A RISING TIDE LIFTS ALL BOATS

It is so true that when you start getting a handle on your finances, the rest of your life follows suit.

Think about it. When you are deep in debt, you worry, get sloppy with decision making, become easily agitated and depressed, argue with your spouse, self-medicate with unhealthy habits, and lose sleep…these are only a few of the negative consequences of impulsive spending.

But, when you establish a budget together with a plan to achieve that budget, and practice the habits necessary to support the plan, you will see a light begin to form at the end of your financial tunnel. You can’t help but feel a bit more in control and possibly excited as to what awaits you on the other side because you can see the fruits of your labor unfolding right in front of you. You may not be at the point of being debt free, but the levity you are starting to experience is none other than Financial Peace.

As a rising tide can’t help but lift all the boats in a harbor, your positive cash flow will lift the other areas in your own life. When you begin to see debt disappear and savings grow, your relationship with yourself improves and that affects every other relationship in your life…your marriage is strengthened, your parenting skills are enriched, order replaces chaos, decision making becomes more logical, spending is sensible and above all else, your ability to give back is increased.

Something really important to note here is that not only does your rising financial tide lift your own boat, but it can also lift another's as well.

“We must give more in order to get more. It is the generous giving of ourselves that produces the generous harvest.” ―Orison Swett Marden

Give of your time since it is more organized, offer your skills in an effort to refine them, and suggest best practices to improve upon them. Add greenbacks to the equation, once you get a handle on your financial rhythm, and watch it perfect itself. The goal is to keep your life afloat and in motion.

So give freely and give often. Why? Because God will continue to give to you, when He knows it will flow through you.
